A Path Less Taken is the first solo exhibition for Dallas based artist and native, Nicolás González. Featuring work from the last 11 years, it begins with his studies as an art student at Brookhaven Community College, undergraduate art career at Southern Methodist University and current work as Co-Founder of Gallery 86. A Path Less Taken highlights Nic’s dexterity with different mediums while tackling concepts such as narratives, systems, observations and how they manifest in life and our culture. His ambition and passion for the arts and creating shines through in this self-reflective collection of work. Pursuing art, despite the cultural and financial barriers he faced, opened many doors for González and helped him realize his role within his community. This work is meant to move those who feel an artistic inkling to action and encourage them to explore their creative notions. It’s designed to rally the spirits of viewers, artists and non-artists alike, to beat the odds against them. Through drawing, painting, and sculpture, Nicolás hopes to awaken the viewers artistic sensibilities and honor those who have galvanized him as a visual artist.
