Event Details
For the first time, this Sunday evening, our faith community will be observing a Christian holiday traditionally celebrated in the Orthodox church, “Sunday of Forgiveness.” In the Gathering, Joel will share a message on Forgiveness. That evening, Joel and Rachel will be available for people to engage in the spiritual practice of private confession between 6p-8p, come-and-go, enter through Taylor St./Kids Area entrance.
Confession
At LIDE, we do not practice confession as a means of achieving forgiveness (that’s God’s free gift) but Scripture does encourage a practice of confession among the believers and we believe that spiritual practice can help us mature as followers of Jesus.
As we say often say in The Gathering, it is a physical representation of a spiritual reality.
before you arrive…
1. Please review this link, “How to PREPARE for Confession.” Confession aims to affirm the true self – the person God created you to be. The true self is discovered only as one experiences the transformative power of God’s mercy and forgiveness.
2. Please review this link, “How to MAKE a Confession,” to help you arrive with a clear direction for how you will participate.
All things shared during confession are held in absolute confidence and for those wanting further spiritual direction, there will be a sign up sheet available that evening.
