Life in Deep Ellum is about a way of life, cultivating dreams and guiding people into relationship with God while bringing community together.

The Journey

Life is a journey, a process, and we want to meet people where they are on that journey. We desire to guide people into a relationship with God.

We want to do this through:
Open doors where relationships can be created and thrive. Jesus said, “Come and See” to those who were seeking or at least interested. We are therefore an open community and believe that relationships are central to who we are and how we treat people.

An invitation into a relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus said, “Follow Me” to those who wanted a deeper relationship with him. We therefore want to mutually inspire and guide people into becoming followers of Jesus.

Living for something larger than ourselves. Jesus said, “Come and Be With Me” to those who desire to develop in their life calling. We therefore want to share our lives and resource in serving others. We want to do this as partners and community realizing that our gifts and abilities cannot be maxmized without others living their calling with us.

Deep dependence on the power of the Holy Spirit to live. Jesus said, “you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you..” We therefore believe that the relationship we have with God is one of power and revelation and not just one of conversation and intellectual reasoning. We desire to see the gifts and reputation of God living actively in our daily lives.

Sharing the grace of God we have received with others in urban Dallas and around the world. Jesus said, “Go” to his followers and teach the life I taught you. We therefore desire to demonstrate the love of Jesus through words and action to people irrespective of their life situation, culture, or ethnic background.

Putting Jesus at the center of the process. Jesus said, “Remain in Me” to his followers. We therefore want to journey with each other in discovering our identity, and destiny for a full life. Together we want to seek devotion and intimacy with God so that we may become all he desires.

The Signposts

Signposts are how we orient the journey towards a relationsihp with Jesus Christ. These are the signposts that guide that pursuit:

We All Have Issues
We all miss the mark in our lives and that keeps us from being whole people. We value the honest transparency of recognizing those issues that keep us from wholeness that is needed to experience transformation no matter what stage each person is on in their journey towards Jesus. To value this transparency, we realize that all of us have something we are working on to become whole people and that gives us the ability to experience the grace of God for our life and for others.

We All Need Jesus
We emphasize a devoted faith in Jesus Christ. We recognize the issues that keep us from wholeness need change and healing. We value the work of Jesus in redeeming us from our issues through His coming to the earth, his death on the Cross and resurrection so that all who believe in Him will be changed and healed. We experience this transformation when we recieve God’s love and allow it to impact our entire personality.

We All Need To Be Loved
We highlight relationship as the basis for community and involvement. We recognize that we all need acceptance within a community and seek to develop family interdependence with each other. We realize that we are all at a common place despite race, gender, or economic viability and to accept each other as the same in Jesus Christ.

We All Need To Love
We accentuate the call of Jesus to serve others and share the good news by loving others like Jesus loves us. We call for bold generosity through which we invest in people. We wish to reach out with God’s love by sharing our gifts, talents, financial resources.

We All Have A Destiny
We not only focus on what God has redeemed us from, but what He has redeemed us for. We want to live for the pleasure of God, the joy of celebrating life as a gift and the enrichment of others. We believe God has designed our lives personally and within community to journey in that destiny. We realize that the quality of life is in living our calling and having an identity in God’s love and we seek together to assure that destiny.

We All Are In Process
We appreciate the reality of the journey towards God by giving room to make mistakes and take risks. We realize that surrendering our lives to God is a constant decision of our will. We seek integrity with our current place in the journey by living by the energy of the Holy Spirit and look to the community we are a part to help get us there.

Our Beliefs

The Holy Bible

We give the Christian Scriptures ultimate authority in determining right beliefs and practices. Written by the hands of humans, we believe that the Holy Spirit inspired its words and guided its communal acceptance over the centuries.

The Apostles Creed

We believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried. He descended into hell (conquered death), on the third day rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God the Father almighty, and he will come to judge the living and the dead; We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
