“We are nine contemporary artists obsessed with the need to speak through photographs. From the still document to the moving image, from the referential to the random, we create art and provoke conversations. Our varied works address a wide range of issues at the forefront of twenty-first century photographic practice. We work at the dynamic intersection of analogue and digital, with time and change our constant companions. We approach traditional genres through fresh eyes – landscape, the portrait, fashion, the body, still life, performance and process – always looking forward.”

Raise the Arts

Supply Drive and Holiday Party

Join the Deep Ellum Community Association and Life in Deep Ellum Sunday, December 8th for our neighborhood holiday party hosted at Life In Deep Ellum. There will be food a plenty from local Deep Ellum restaurants. Including: Buzzbrews, Maracas, Baker's Ribs, Glazed Donut Works, and Rudolph's. We'll serve until the food runs out - so come early!

There will be plenty of homemade goodies and drinks for the late comers! And live music for everyone to enjoy and for the young (or young at heart) our feature film - Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer (claymation circa 1964).

The holidays are not only a time for frivolity but also for giving back and Deep Ellum knows how to do both well. For the third year our holiday party coincides with our neighborhood's Raise the Arts Supply Drive, benefiting MLK Learning Center and Uplift Luna Prep. Check out the wish-list and lets Raise the Arts to support an underserved school this holiday season. (CLICK HERE)

Supplies and donations can be brought to the holiday party or dropped off at Life in Deep Ellum in advance.

And You Can Make an online Donation to our new CROWDTILT campaign. (CLICK HERE)

The Amazing Memorable Thing

by Chris Rabb

Come check out our new exhibit by Chris Rabb. The reception will be on Saturday, September 21 from 6-9pm. Here is his artist statement:

Every day I am inundated with vast amounts of information, from the internet, my television, and roadside billboards.  All of which seem to follow me through my daily rituals. The images have permeated my thoughts, and have even become a visual langue. And now when I am conversing with others these images and text seem to appear as my thoughts. In my work I am using this idea of visual inundation by composing layers various multimedia sources with the intent of creating a previous conversation. A conversation that I may have had with anyone that I may have encountered throughout my day, such as my wife, co-workers, customers, or a gas station attendant. When creating these conversation I must rely on my memory to recall the information, this is when the images start colliding, layering, and changing color. The end product is a conversation that has been arranged spatial rather than linearly.
